Published by Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre the year of the London Olympics 2012, to coincide with an exhibition of the same name of Shakespearean Visitorians actually held in the Globe Theatre itself.
This highly unusual picture book of Shakespeare quotations contains an essay on Shakespeare and Photography, examining amongst other things the theatricality of the Victorian photographer’s studio: “As these Visitorians stood dead still for the long minutes it took to make the exposure, it is quite likely they maintained their poses by letting their favourite lines from Shakespeare run through their heads. What fun then to look at the resulting pictures and speculate what lines these might have been…”
